There are two primary changes in comparison to the original release.
Full reversion of circleci env subst
AWS_ECR_STR_AWS_DOMAIN and AWS_ECR_STR_EXTRA_BUILD_ARGS still utilized env subst, causing issues with the rendering nested variables.
Buildx Provenance
--provenance=false has been hardcoded into the build build command line arguments of the shell script.
