I tried to use
--hackage-dbwith an https://github.com/commercialhaskell/all-cabal-hashes/ tarball (because that's what I think of as "the Hackage database"). That didn't work!Let's clarify that
--hackage-dbis for Cabal's Hackage database.I also say that the default value is
~/.cabal/packages/hackage.haskell.org/01-index.tar, which is mostly true but a bit of a white lie: we actually detect several other (legacy) paths, but for 99% of users, that path will be correct. So I think that's OK.
