PS @bischtob I would like to merge this PR before any others --- this PR implements a major refactor that removes saturation adjustment as default behavior. Instead (for now), "nothing" microphysics will be default (with no phase changes). We will then implement a hierarchy of schemes, including adjustment (instantaneous phase change) and explicit rate-dependent phase-change as baseline models.
