For the new user, consider the following sequence:
- Make a backup of your contacts. Either export them from Google Contacts or consider making an encrypted copy with SecureSuite. SecureSuite is also free and opensource.
- Run the Security Check (main menu), delete or modify obvious security issues.
- Run the Permission Survey. Are there games or utilities you can uninstall that have access to your contacts?
- Select one of your accounts then browse or search for contacts you don't want to share in the cloud and delete them.
- Select one of your accounts, then select Raw Contacts in the upper left corner. Change it to Raw Contacts, browse or search for meta-data you do not wish to share and delete it.
- Start with the Security Check from the main menu. Delete or modify the obvious security issues.
- Start the esssential contacts you use frequently. Select an account, browse and select contacts you use frequently make sure each has the star selected.
- Use the selection button, hit Select Unstarred and then Delete.
Your Android notification area will show you when there are up dates to your contacts cloud.
The Cloud Event Log will show you all updates to your cloud. Entries on this list can be selected and
starred, modified or deleted as necessary.
