FISHeries Indicators: exploratory and descriptive processes of data associated to fisheries

The fishi package is designed to facilitate fisheries and marine science research by providing a set of functions. It aims to simplify common tasks in fisheries research and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of data analysis and interpretation in this field. It can be used with csv/excel datasets and sql queries.

Add three new indicators :

  • percentage_coverage: Size distribution of major tuna catches (in percentage of the total number of fishes)
  • deploiement_density_dcp: Map of the the number of deployments of dFADs
  • Density of dcp 1 deg: Map of the the density of deployments of dFADs 1 deg (Only for OA for the moment)

The fishi package is designed to facilitate fisheries and marine science research by providing a set of functions. It aims to simplify common tasks in fisheries research and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of data analysis and interpretation in this field. It can be used with csv/excel datasets and sql queries.

This version contains a large number of indicators for running the statistical report (https://forge.ird.fr/marbec/ob7/statistical-report)
and the RShiny (https://forge.ird.fr/marbec/ob7/rshiny-fishi).

Important indicators have been added (22 indicators):

The indicators of the statistical report

  • bio_size_tuna: Size distribution of major tuna catches (in percentage of the total number of fishes).
  • bio_weight_tuna: Weight distribution of major tuna catches (in percentage of the total number of fishes).
  • catch_per_searching_day: Annual number of catch per positive set on FOB-associated and free-swimming schools.
  • catch_per_unit_effort: Annual catch rates (in t per searching day) on FOB- associated and free-swimming tuna schools (FSC).
  • fishery_production: Total fishery production (catch by species).
  • fishing_activity: Fishing operations. Annual number of fishing sets on FOB-associated and free-swimming tuna schools.
  • fishing_capacity: Annual changes in the number of vessel
  • fishing_effort: Annual total number of fishing and searching days
  • map_catch_distribution: Spatial distribution of tuna catches.
  • set_per_searching_day: Annual number of sets per searching day on FOB-associated and free-swimming schools.
  • spatial_occupancy: Changes in the spatial extent of the fishery over time. Annual number of 1-degree squares explored by each vessel.

Other indicators available

  • biological_UO_count:  Counts UO for biological sampling.
  • control_trip: Trip data consistency control.
  • control_trip_map:Check the consistency between logbook and observer data (Positions, number of sets and deployments).
  • data_availability: Control to verify the availability of logbook, observer and vms data.
  • fishing_time: Represents the time spent by the fleet (in hours).
  • map_effort_distribution: Spatial distribution of tuna effort.
  • number_fad: Number of deployments by vessels and years.
  • psu_total: Total number of calibration events, sampled or not, with tuna landings (variables: exit, well and vessel).
  • sample_summary: gives the number of trips, vessels or wells sampled for a given year.
  • set_total: Total number of set events, sampled or not, with or without tuna landings.
  • species_biological_variable: Gives the number of each biological variable sampled for a given year.
