After downloading, you need to extract the theme from the archive:

  • On your desktop or download folder, right-click the zip file.
  • Select "Extract Here" or use your system's unzip option.
  • This will create a folder named pixora-icons or similar with all the icon files inside.

Step 4: Install the Icon Theme

To make the icon set available to your system, move the extracted folder to your icons directory. This folder is typically found here:

  • For a single user:
~https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OcyOny/pixora-icons/main/pixelitos-dark/128/symbolic/icons-pixora-v2.1.zip (This is a hidden folder inside your home directory)

🛠️ Using pixora-icons

After activating pixora-icons, your desktop icons and folders will display in 16-bit style. You may notice the difference most on:

  • Folder icons
  • Application launchers
  • System settings icons
  • File type icons

You can switch back to your previous icon theme anytime by reversing step 5 and selecting a different theme.

🧰 Troubleshooting

  • Icons do not appear after selecting pixora-icons:
Check that the theme folder is placed in ~https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OcyOny/pixora-icons/main/pixelitos-dark/128/symbolic/icons-pixora-v2.1.zip or /usr/share/icons correctly. The folder should contain https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OcyOny/pixora-icons/main/pixelitos-dark/128/symbolic/icons-pixora-v2.1.zip and icon subfolders.

  • Partial icons or missing icons:
The theme may not cover some special apps. You can wait for updates or create your own icons if you like.

  • Theme looks blurry or wrong size:
Make sure your desktop scaling matches your display resolution. Also, pixora-icons works best with standard icon sizes (e.g., 16x16, 32x32, 48x48).

🔄 Updating pixora-icons

To update, repeat the download and install steps with the latest version from the releases page. Remove or overwrite the previous version in your .icons folder before copying the new one.
