Additionally and optionally, you can try instead the Silicon 2.0 Beta that plays in quicklook every non-natively supported formats and codecs!
The beta 2.0 is configured specifically for mkv, webm, wmv, flv, swf, divx, rm and nuv, and their audio counterparts ¹.
WebM and Mkv experiences are still better with the individual plugins.

Every releases are notarized, sandboxed and hardened to the maximum: Gatekeeper is happy.
