Retro Realms Runner

This is a Next.js project bootstrapped with create-next-app.

Project Overview

Retro Realms Runner is a web-based game arcade that showcases and allows users to play simple, retro-style games. It's built with modern web technologies to provide a seamless and enjoyable user experience.

Getting Started

First, run the development server:

npm run dev
# or
yarn dev
# or
pnpm dev
# or
bun dev

Open http://localhost:3000 with your browser to see the result.

You can start editing the page by modifying app/page.tsx. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.

This project uses next/font to automatically optimize and load Inter, a custom Google Font.

Architecture

The application is built using the following technologies and principles:

  • Framework: Next.js (React framework)
  • Language: TypeScript
  • Styling: Tailwind CSS
  • UI Components: shadcn/ui
  • Routing:
    • The main page (/) displays a library of available games.
    • Dynamic routes (/play/[slug]) are used for individual game pages.
  • Game Integration:
    • Game metadata is managed in src/lib/games.ts.
    • The games themselves are externally hosted and embedded into the application using <iframe> elements. This allows for easy integration of games from different sources.
