Game-Collection

Game Collection consists of two games (Chess and Monopoly) bundled with an offline music player that will also play music during the game. For chess, you will need a terminal that supports unicode. The font Dejavu Sans Mono is bundled in this repository and is Unicode compatable

Chess

Chess has been slightly altered

En Passant is not in the game

You cannot promote your pawns. This makes it less important to not waste your pawns, and instead focuses your attention on trying to keep as many special pieces as possible

You enter your starting location and then the location you want to move to If in a check, you are not told and forced to protect your king as to make it harder for the players by having them loose if they do not pay attention

Rules for Monopoly

This is not a direct copy as Monopoly. As such, the rules are also different.

There are Buildings, Railroads, Free Parking, Event, Go to Jail, Tax and Start.

Buildings

Buildings can be bought for a price (value). If someone steps on a Space owned by you, they will have to pay you. The amount they will have to pay will be 40% of the Houses value rounded down. This can be increased by buying houses which each cost 100% of the Buildings Value, and increase the amount of money you make by 50% (compounding). If you reach 5 Houses, they will be converted to a "Mega House", which will double the income (from 5x at 4 Houses to 10x at a Mega House). You can buy two houses per turn, shared for everything the Player owns. If you own all houses on a street, the cost for a house will be lowered to 50% of the Buildings Value.

As an example, the most expensive House in Monopoly (Boardwalk) in this Game makes: Base 160M$ 1H: 240M$ 2H: 360M$ 3H: 540M$ 4H: 810M$ Mega: 1600M$

Cost: 2400 Street: 1400

Compared to the Classic Monopoly: Base: 50M$ 1H: 200M$ 2H: 600M$ 3H:1400M$ 4H:1700M$ Mega: 2000M$

This makes it so Buildings are more balanced throughout rather than being weak at the start and being very strong with buildings.

Railroads

Railroads, as Buildings, can be bought and make an amount of money when entering the space. This amount is increased based on how many other Railroads the Owner of said Railroad has. This is the same as Classical Monopoly. However, in this version, you can also decide to "Renovate the Railroads" for 100M$, which will double the money gained from the specific Railroad. This will only apply to one at a time

This goes as follows:

Price: 200M$ 1 Railroad: 50 | 100 M$ 2 Railroads: 100 | 200 M$ 3 Railroads: 200 | 400 M$ 4 Railroads: 400 | 800 M$

Ownings

Additional Rules for Buildings and Railroads: You can put a Mortgage on your ownings, which will grant you 50% of its value (including houses) However you will not gain money from Players landing on it, and they will not have to pay either. You will still "own" the plot, and can rebuy the mortgage should you have money once more. No one else can buy it and steal the building from you.

You can also sell your buildings. This will give you back 100% of its value (including houses), but other players will be able to buy the house again. (Houses will be removed as soon as you sell it) Should you want to buy the house again, you will have to land on the field it is located on. Auctions from the Monopoly Rules do not exist.

Free Parking

If you land on Free Parking, you draw an Event Card and gain 100M$. If the card has any negative effects, you can decline the Event.

Event

Unlike classical monopoly, there is only one type of Event rather than two. These pull from a pool of options, of which a random one will happen. If the Event does not have any negative effects, you can keep the Event and use it in the future.

Options of Events include: Paying Money Moving to a field Spared from prison Gaining Money ...

Go to Jail

If you land on "Go to Jail", you will be transported to "Jail". If you land in Jail, you will need to pay 50M$ or roll doubles. If you just land on the Jail Field rather than go to Jail, you can move as normal. You may also be forced into jail by an event field

Tax

If you land on "Tax", you will have to pay 200M$ . You can also choose to not pay the tax, however there will be a chance you will be caught (Random), and will be transported to Jail and have to pay 50M$ as per the rules to get out of Jail.

Start

If you land directly on Start, you will gain 400M$ . If you pass Start, you will gain 200M$. If you are being transported to jail, you will not gain any money. However, if being transported by Events, you will gain money as if passing Start.

Additional Rules:

You start with 400M$. You start on the field "Start" If you do not have any money to pay a fee and no buildings, you automatically loose. Each turn, you can move 1 - 12 Fields (decided by a random factor.) You can only move once per turn, unless Events are used. On your turn, you cannot see the locations of other players.
