This seems way too hasty, how about reverting the change that instigated this incident as was suggested here? |
I do not plan to merge it right away and plan to wait wait until Sebastian confirms the finality of his decision. This PR is made to show that I am completely fine with developing the crate under a different name. |

This is a really terrible outcome and |

Could we close this PR and shelf it for now? |
As I wrote in the private Zulip chat, I will wait until the end of this week with this PR. Publishing permissions are still revoked and I did not get any updates from @tarcieri to whom I relegated all future communications with Sebastian. Personally, after this event I am really uncomfortable with keeping Sebastian as an owner of crates developed under the RustCrypto umbrella. After all, even after the header issue is resolved he could repeat the ownership blackmail again for some other reason. |

You don't go try to make peace with a loaded gun. Closing the PR doesn't stop you from re-opening it later. |
I placed the "loaded gun" on the table after the shots were fired. And if by "making peace" you mean "giving in to the blackmail threats", then I would prefer to just use a different name. I still did not get a proper explanation why the license headers in source files are that important and why Sebastian should get a special treatment, while all other contributors (me and you included) continue to work on the project just fine without license headers with their name in each source file touched or created by them. |
