Exclusive-Mentor-Mentee-Platform

This project is a comprehensive platform that facilitates mentor-mentee interactions through various features including role-based authentication, appointment scheduling, feedback management, and achievement tracking. The platform is built using a robust backend API and a user-friendly frontend, offering different functionalities for mentors and mentees.

Live Demo

You can view the live demo of the platform at Exclusive Mentor-Mentee Platform.

📌 API Documentation (Postman)

  • The API has been tested using Postman.
  • You can import the Postman collection using the provided JSON file: MentorMentee2.postman_collection.json.
  • Open Postman, go to File > Import, and select the JSON file to load the API endpoints.

Key concepts and principles

1. DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself):

  • Avoid duplicating code by abstracting common functionality into reusable components, functions, or modules.

  • Why it matters: Reduces redundancy, makes the codebase easier to maintain, and minimizes the risk of inconsistencies.

  • Example: Instead of writing the same validation logic in multiple places, create a single function and reuse it.

2. Modularity:

  • Break the system into smaller, independent, and interchangeable modules or components.

  • Why it matters: Improves maintainability, reusability, and scalability.

  • Example: Use microservices architecture or divide the application into layers (e.g., presentation, business logic, data access).

3. Version Control:

  • Use tools like Git to track changes, collaborate, and manage code history.

  • Why it matters: Enables collaboration, rollback to previous versions, and branching for feature development.

  • Example: Use Git workflows like GitFlow or GitHub Flow.

4. Documentation:

  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation for code, APIs, and processes.

  • Why it matters: Helps developers understand and work with the codebase.

  • Example: Use tools like Swagger for API documentation or Markdown files for project documentation.

5. Design Patterns:

  • Reusable solutions to common problems in software design.

  • Why it matters: Provides proven approaches to solving recurring problems.

  • Example: Singleton, Factory, Observer, or Strategy patterns.

6. Security:

  • Implement measures to protect the application from vulnerabilities and attacks.

  • Why it matters: Protects user data and ensures compliance with regulations.

  • Example: Use encryption, input validation, and secure authentication mechanisms.

Key Features

-Role-Based Authentication:

The platform supports role-based login and access control. Mentors and mentees can register, log in, and access their personalized dashboards based on their roles.

-Appointment Scheduling:

Mentors and mentees can schedule, manage, and confirm appointments for mentorship sessions. The system supports calendar-based scheduling and time slot management.

-Feedback System:

After each mentorship session, mentees can provide feedback on their experience, which is valuable for continuous improvement.

-Achievements Tracking:

Mentors and mentees can track and celebrate achievements throughout their interaction. The achievements system helps visualize progress and milestones.

Technology Stack

Backend: Node.js, Express.js

Database: MongoDB

Authentication: JWT (JSON Web Tokens)

Frontend: React, Tailwind CSS (for styling)

API: RESTful API for communication between frontend and backend
