Our app aims to help users reach their fitness goals by removing the dependency of having one specific accountability partner. The user will have quick access to possible accountability partners through Social Karma and will be able to connect with someone who has similar short-term fitness goals.

Researchers at the University of Aberdeen reported that finding a new exercise companion boosted motivation and increased the amount of exercise an individual was willing to participate in. Our goal is to create an app that provides users with plenty of options for new partners and relying on one person will never become an issue.

The users will have easy access to descriptions of the other user's goals(ex: Leg Day, Chest Day), availability, & preferred location (ex: gym). It will also include levels of experience to really get a sense of who you want to match with before moving forward. For instance, a user looking for someone to work out with on “leg day”, beginner-friendly, and available this Thursday will get matched with users nearby with the same goal/schedule.

Having all this information easily accessible avoids unnecessary connections and helps filter out the best potential matches. According to CDC guidelines, the best partners are "someone with the same goals, schedule, and commitment you have. Someone who makes you feel positive and inspires you to hit the trail or treadmill on a regular basis. Being partnered with someone will help users build a healthy level of competition, help prevent injury when working out, and make the workouts more fun, thus motivating both parties to reach their fitness goals!

Short-term goals are the tools you can use to help you see where you are going along the way, so you don’t get derailed before you can accomplish what is it you have set out to do. Creating short-term goals allow the individual to celebrate small achievements and keep them motivated.
