PR makes the gui check which extensions are needed based on the views the user has specified.
Needed to move the construction of the layout dict before the controller initialization. Bonus: if the layout_file is wrong (e.g. incorrectly spelled view name) this error gets raised before the controller initializes.
Not sure where to put
find_skippable_extensions. Any better ideas thanmain.py?
