Hi, I'm Chris McGee

What I bring

  • Advanced from Associate to Senior to Lead Software Engineer through two promotions at Integrity Express Logistics.
  • Led 4–6 developers through technical design, mentoring, pair programming, standups, and day-to-day delivery.
  • Co-developed a high-throughput internal platform used by several hundred employees across North America.
  • Co-led adoption of Claude Code and reusable AI-assisted workflows across 25+ colleagues in engineering, DevOps, QA, product, and other business functions.
  • Care deeply about maintainable architecture, useful automation, strong tests, code review, and developer experience.

Selected work

An active Laravel 13 and PHP 8.4/8.5 application for a self-hosted member portal, designed around federated identity, invitations, newsletters, and a members-only knowledge base. The repository demonstrates domain modeling, architectural decision records, Pest tests, PHPStan analysis, Pint formatting, container builds, and a multi-version CI matrix.

A published, privacy-conscious userscript that adds sorting and media-type filtering to self-hosted Scrob list pages without changing server data. It includes focused DOM tests, continuous integration, release documentation, and distribution through Greasy Fork.

A deployed Laravel application for tracking armor upgrades and required materials. Its optimization work reduced a core view from 247 database queries to 16, with Redis caching used to improve repeated access.

Core toolbox

  • Backend: PHP · Laravel · REST APIs · MySQL · Redis
  • Frontend: JavaScript · Vue · Inertia.js · Livewire · React
  • Quality: Pest · PHPUnit · PHPStan · Rector · automated review · code review
