I appreciate your consideration to add this.
However, so far I have always had a bad experience with dependabot and its bad defaults of opening tens of tiny PRs for every single patch version.

So I would appreciate if we either remove this, or tweak the config in such a way that it is not as spammy and annoying as the default settings.

I added an example configuration, you can fine-tune it to your needs now.
But I recommend to wait for eventual "spamming" and improve the configuration then, better use that time to improve CI and test coverage until then.
