v4.3.3 FSC v2; Use NTP for Time
Please download from X-Plane.org.
- FSCharter: Now connecting to FSCharter v2. You need to have a login on v2 to be able to connect. LiveTraffic's documentation is here.
- Now using NTP for fetching UTC time.
Fixed a bug that could delay X-Plane startup for several seconds while fetching UTC time.
v4.3.2 RealTraffic API v5
Please download from X-Plane.org.
v4.3.2 is a hotfix on top of v4.3.1.
- Mandatory Update for RealTraffic users as it switches LiveTraffic to a newer API interface. RealTraffic is going to switched off the previous one soon.
Technical change only, no change to functionality. - Fixed a bug that caused misinterpretation of the date/time a user has set in X-Plane and, for example, could get forwarded to RealTraffic for display of historic traffic.
v4.3.0 AutoATC
Please download from X-Plane.org.
- Added AutoATC as a new channel to follow AutoATC's generated AI planes.
Note: As always, there is a latency as per the Buffering Period, which will cause a time difference between ATC communication and plane movement. You can reduce the Buffering Period to a minimum of 10s (if also reducing Live Data Refresh to 10s), which will however affect all channels and may in turn cause unrealistic behaviour of live planes. - ForeFlight output: Added an option to only output traffic, that is not also a "TCAS Target" to avoid duplicates with X-Plane's network output.
If you prefer X-Plane to output data to ForeFlight directly (via X-Plane's Networking settings) then X-Plane will output your own plane's position and also up to 63 traffic planes, the so-called TCAS targets. When LiveTraffic has TCAS control, those are the 63 nearest planes provided by LiveTraffic. Using the new "Only non-TCAS target traffic" option in the ForeFlight Output settings prevents LiveTraffic from sending TCAS target traffic to ForeFlight. LiveTraffic will then only send planes that are not currently TCAS targets, ie. planes further away, that X-Plane has now knowledge about. - Fixed #287: OpenGlider planes with hidden id, that duplicate planes from other channels, are no longer drawn, avoiding duplicate planes in the sky.
If you disabled OpenSky just because of those duplicate planes consider enabling it again. Especially in Europe, OpenSky adds to the immersion with its small planes, gliders, etc. - Fixed #284: Allow a Buffering Period of more than 100s with Realtraffic.
- Fixed #289: Reduced forced output to Message Window so that you can avoid nearly all output to the screen. However, for beginners still the default of "Info" is the recommended choice.
- Improved how planes are selected for display when seeing more than the configured limit. Should reduce the effect that most distant planes went into and out of visibility freqeuntly.
v4.2.1 OpenSky Client API Credentials
Please download from X-Plane.org.
- OpenSky
- This is a mandatory update for registered OpenSky users as OpenSky is changing how applications like LiveTraffic are authorized to use their data.
- As a registered OpenSky user who wants to use up to 4000 request per day, you now need to optain a "Client ID" and "Client Secret" from your OpenSky account page and load or enter those into LiveTraffic's settings.
For more details see the documentation. - Added a fallback to the Masterdata File channel to use the FEB-2025 file, which remains available online.
- Updated links to OpenSky's map and aircraft database to align with latest changes on their web site structure.
- Removed links to the Route database for the moment as it doesn't seem to be supported just now.
- SayIntentions: Fixed #281 reading call signs, so that operators are recognized and matching can find proper airline liveries.
- Check for New Versions
- Reimplemented check, as upgraded X-Plane.org forum now requires JavaScript execution and no longer supports the HTTPS check approach taken previously.
Means: This version will again not be announced in LiveTraffic v4.2.0 and earlier, future versions should again be announced in LiveTraffic. - Announcement of new versions added to top of Status/Info window.
- Reimplemented check, as upgraded X-Plane.org forum now requires JavaScript execution and no longer supports the HTTPS check approach taken previously.
v4.2.0 ADSBEx switch Service
Please download from X-Plane.org.
- ADS-B Exchange: Switch to paid "ADSBExchange.com" RAPID API Service after their announcement to retire the previously used service "ADSBx Flight Sim Traffic".
Note: On first startup, any old API key is cleared from the settings and ADSBEx deactivated.
If you want to (continue to) use ADS-B Exchange data, then you need to subscribe to RAPID API and get a (new) API key, see documentation. - For developers: Support for LTAPI 4.1.2 incl. "visible" and "Parked" information.
- Added #279 : Status Information Window remembers active tab and filter settings when re-opening.
- Aircraft List doesn't show static objects at all when configured to be hidden.
- Linux version now built under Ubuntu 22.02 (previously was 20.02).
v4.1.1 Fixes, Crash Handler
Please download from X-Plane.org.
- Added two options to Settings > Aircraft Labels:
- Labels for Parked a/c allows to switch off labels for parked aircraft as they can quite clutter the screen on larger airports
- Dynamic Information > Channel adds the name of the channel currently driving the plane's data to the label
- Fixed checking for new versions after a change to the X-Plane.org forum no longer allows providing version number information for uploads.
This means that LiveTraffic v4.1.0 and earlier cannot inform you about this update to v4.1.1! - Fixed processing OpenSky Masterdata File download and processing after changes to both download location and format.
- Fixed a bug preventing parked aircraft from disappearing when a taxiing aircraft comes too close. Is a very rare event when watching real world traffic, but is more likely with virtual traffic added to the mix.
- Added #193 own crash reporter as per Laminar's suggestion, so that if LiveTraffic causes a crash there hopefully is a LiveTraffic-specific dump file in
Output/crash_reportsallowing for proper analysis.
v4.1.0 SayIntentions Channel
Please download from X-Plane.org.
- Added #274 SayIntentions channel, so you can watch your SI buddies while flying in X-Plane. See here for configuration.
- Fixed an error that prevented LiveTraffic from getting current local weather information, which led to inaccuracte altitude correction, hence planes flying at wrong altitude and landing short or far.
- Fixed an error that prevented fetching RealTraffic and general weather data in case user's plane is beyond 75 degree latitude north or south.
v4.0.0 Weather
Please download from X-Plane.org.
- Weather in X-Plane 12: LiveTraffic can set X-Plane's weather based on RealTraffic weather data and/or METARs, either live, historically (from RealTraffic), or by pasting any METAR into the settings. See documentation for details and take note of the limitations.
- RealTraffic:
- Parked aircraft loaded from RealTraffic, populating parking spots in major airports, based on positions, in which RealTraffic saw aircraft stop then disappear from tracking in the past 24h.
- Faster startup, planes will appear within seconds, as RealTraffic provides startup data to fill the buffer.
- OpenSky is again enabled by default in new installations.
If you want to use OpenSky in an existing installation just activate it in the channel's settings. - Increased number of allowed aircraft to 300, room needed to allow for parked aircraft at large airports. Set in Settings > Advanced.
- Fixed #269: No pressure altitude correcton above transition altitude (fixed at 18,000ft).
v3.6.0 adsb.fi
Please download from X-Plane.org.
- Added #266 adsb.fi as a free, anonymous traffic data channel, enabled by default. To those with ADS-B receivers: Please feed adsb.fi!
- Given its current unreliability, OpenSky Network Online is disabled upon first startup of this version, and is no longer enabled by default in new installations, but can be manually enabled in the settings any time.
- Fix: Normalizing camera heading to avoid compatibility issues with camera plugins, see here.
v3.5.1 OpenSky Hotfix / RealTraffic historic data / Hide Aircraft Ahead
Please download from X-Plane.org.
- Hotfix to remove OpenSky Network from network time synchronization, to prevent unreasonable buffering time from happening. OpenSky Network also causes other network errors and will likely disable itself after some attempts anyway. See here for discussion and options.
- Not designated a Beta version as v3.5.0 accidently was. No usage time limit.
You want to set Settings > Advanced > Logging > Log.txt logging level back to "Warning" to reduce output to Log.txt. That setting got set to "Debug" while running a Beta version. - RealTraffic with historic data:
- Fixed fetching historic weather, more robust now.
- Fixed glitch in Settings UI that could offer outdated historic timestamp when modifying timestamp again.
- Added command to toggle visibility of aircraft ahead, available as joystick button or keyboard assignment "LiveTraffic/Aircrafts/Toggle_Ahead" and as new menu item "Hide aircraft ahead".
OpenSky Master File: Removal of no longer used database files. - Additional Help menu entries for Support Forum and Support HowTo.
