Description

This update addresses the need to improve test coverage for the reject method in TaskUpdater. While basic tests for the reject method already existed, this PR adds a crucial test case to handle race conditions, ensuring the reliability and robustness of the task rejection functionality.

Changes:

  • Added test_reject_concurrently_with_complete to tests/server/tasks/test_task_updater.py. This test simulates a race condition by calling reject() and complete() concurrently on the same task.
  • It verifies that only one of the terminal state updates succeeds and that only one event is sent, preventing inconsistent states.

Value:

  • Improves test coverage by testing for race conditions.
  • Ensures the reliability and consistency of the TaskUpdater when multiple terminal state updates are attempted simultaneously.

Summary of Changes

Hello @pankaj-bind, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request focuses on bolstering the robustness of the TaskUpdater by adding a critical test case. The primary goal is to ensure that concurrent attempts to transition a task to a terminal state (like rejecting or completing it) are handled gracefully, preventing inconsistent states and ensuring only one final status update is processed.

Highlights

  • Test Coverage Improvement: I've added a new test case to enhance the coverage for the reject method within the TaskUpdater component, specifically targeting race conditions.
  • Race Condition Testing: A new test, test_reject_concurrently_with_complete, has been introduced. This test simulates concurrent calls to reject() and complete() on the same task, verifying that only one terminal state update succeeds and a single event is dispatched, ensuring consistency.

Code Review

This pull request adds a valuable test case for handling race conditions between reject() and complete() in TaskUpdater, which improves the robustness of the task update logic. The implementation of the concurrent test is solid. There is also an empty test case that should be implemented or removed.
