Resolve the incremental/model and eval_cluster_retrieval conflicts, keep the branch retrieval API and ORCID toggle behavior, and fold in the follow-up ruff/ty cleanup needed to get the repo back to a green local state.\n\nVerification on this committed tree:\n- uv run ruff format .\n- uv run ruff check .\n- uv run ty check . --output-format concise\n- uv run pytest -q\n\nInclude the single-letter source and test files that were part of that verified state. Leave experiment logs, TODO notes, profiling notes, and other scratch docs untracked.
