This is the first release of the courseware on Finite Element Methods containing the following chapters:
- One- and two-dimensional basis functions
- Variational formulation and finite element approximation of an one-dimensional beam with linear Timoshenko kinematics
- Variational formulation and finite element approximation of a two-dimensional plate with linear Reissner-Mindlin kinematics
- Transverse-shear locking for beams with linear Timoshenko kinematics and plates with linear Reissner-Mindlin kinematics
