Application Settings

This page describes the various configuration options available in the HeadUnit Revived application.

General Settings

  • Language (New in 1.13.3)

    • Options: System Default, English, German, Spanish, etc.
    • Description: Manually select the application language. Changes are applied instantly across the entire app.

  • Night Mode

    • Options: Auto (Time), Day, Night, Auto (Time + GPS), Light Sensor, Screen Brightness
    • Description: Controls the day/night theme of the Android Auto projection.

  • Wireless Mode (Updated in 1.12.0)

    • Options: Manual, Auto-Scan, Helper Mode
    • Description: Defines how the app handles wireless connections.

  • GPS for Navigation

    • Type: Toggle
    • Description: If enabled, the head unit's GPS data is shared with the phone.

  • Auto-Connect Last Session

    • Type: Toggle
    • Description: Automatically attempts to reconnect to the last used device on app startup.

Graphic Settings

  • Resolution

    • Options: Auto, 480p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p
    • Note: 1440p requires API 24+ and H.265 support.

  • DPI

    • Input: Numeric Value (Enter 0 for Auto)
    • Description: Sets the screen density. Set to 0 for automatic detection. Lower values make UI elements larger.

  • Custom Insets (Margins) (New in 1.13.0)

    • Description: Allows manual adjustment of screen margins (Top, Bottom, Left, Right). Useful for correcting overscan issues on certain headunits or AI-Boxes. Features a live preview directly in the settings UI.

  • Start in Fullscreen Mode

    • Type: Toggle
    • Description: If enabled, hides the Android status and navigation bars during projection.

  • View Mode

    • Options: SurfaceView, TextureView, GLES20
    • Description: SurfaceView is usually the most efficient. Use GLES20 only for very old hardware.

Audio Settings

  • Audio Sink

    • Type: Toggle
    • Description: Enables audio playback on the headunit. If disabled, sound will play from the phone.

  • Microphone Input Source (New in 1.13.2)

    • Options: Default, Microphone, Voice Recognition, Voice Communication
    • Description: Select the Android audio source for the microphone. "Voice Communication" is recommended for echo cancellation.

  • Mic Sample Rate

    • Options: 16kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz
    • Description: Sets the sampling rate for the microphone input.

  • Use AAC Audio

    • Type: Toggle (Experimental)
    • Description: Uses compressed AAC for audio streams to save bandwidth.

Debug Settings

  • Use Native SSL

    • Type: Toggle
    • Description: Uses native OpenSSL for encryption. Highly recommended for performance. Includes 16KB aligned libraries for Android 15 compatibility.

  • Export Logs

    • Action: Button
    • Description: Saves logs to a file for troubleshooting.
