Bulk update Bioconductor recipes to Bioconductor 3.23 / R 4.6

Bioconductor 3.23 was released on April 29, 2026 and uses R 4.6.

It looks like Bioconda has not yet completed a bulk migration of the Bioconductor recipes to 3.23. There have been some individual package updates, but the full Bioconductor dependency graph still appears to be awaiting a coordinated bulk update.

Previous releases have used the bulk branch and the Bioconductor skeleton tooling to regenerate and rebuild the recipes, so I wanted to check whether a Bioconductor 3.23 / R 4.6 migration is already being planned or worked on.

@bioconda/core — is anyone already coordinating the Bioconductor 3.23 / R 4.6 update?

I have added some Bioconda context to the upstream R 4.6 migration discussion in conda-forge/conda-forge-pinning-feedstock#8436.

At the moment it looks like the main work in progress is around the R v0 to v1 migration tooling in conda-forge/conda-forge-bot#6381. Once the R 4.6 migration is underway and the conda-forge R is far enough along, we should be in a better position to start the Bioconductor 3.23 bulk update.

@bgruening / @bioconda/core I’m happy to help get things moving, though I might need a bit of guidance along the way.

I'm not aware of anyone that is coordinating it atm. Please note that if Bioconductor depends on the new R version ... ah you found the issue already. So we need to wait for this migration.
