kdoom-kindlehf-0.1.zip is for firmware versions 5.16.3 and up, and it won't work on anything below that.
Likewise, kdoom-kindlepw2-0.1.zip only works for firmware versions 5.16.2.1.1 and below.
If in doubt, use kdoom-kindlepw2-0.1.zip.
