🌍 Climsoft Web – Preview Release (preview-2.0.2)

We’re excited to announce the second release of Climsoft Web preview-2 , the next-generation, browser-based evolution of the Climsoft climate data management system. See Climsoft road map in this link.

🚀 What’s New

🔄 Web-Based & Cross-Platform

Climsoft Web is fully browser-based and works on desktops, tablets, and smartphones — no installation required. Built with Angular, NestJS, and PostgreSQL/PostGIS, it replaces the legacy VB.Net + MariaDB stack used in Version 4.

🧾 Dynamic Data Entry Forms

Admins can now create and manage custom data entry forms directly from the web. This replaces the rigid, static forms of the desktop version and allows tailored data collection based on the station.

📡 Remote Station Data Entry

Data entry can now be done directly from remote stations, decentralizing operations and improving timeliness — a major step toward real-time data collection.

📈 Live Data Monitoring

Climsoft Web includes interactive dashboards that visualize station activity, data flow, and gaps in real time. Users can monitor element submissions and data completeness more easily than ever.

🔐 Data-Centric Permissions

User permissions are now focused on specific data actions rather than just modules. This allows for more granular control of who can enter, edit, monitor, or extract data.

📈 Quality Control Tests

Climsoft Web now includes advanced quality control tests that help you detect erroneous data more easily than ever.

🌐 Sync with Version 4 Database

To support gradual migration, Climsoft Web can synchronize with the existing Version 4 database model, ensuring compatibility while leveraging the new web platform.

🔍 Advanced Features

  • Audit Trail: Track data edits and contributors over time.
  • WIGOS Station Classification: Metadata now aligns with WMO standards for observing systems.
  • ECV-based Element Grouping: Supports GCOS Essential Climate Variables (ECVs).
  • Simplified Observations Model: Streamlined structure across all data sources.
  • Modern Data Extraction: Advanced filtering and export options for data users.

⚠️ Current Limitations

  • AWS automatic ingestion is still handled by the desktop version. Climsoft web currently gets AWS data from version 4.
  • Product generation rely on Climsoft Desktop.
  • Pilot release only - not publicly installable yet. Available to select partner countries. Please reach out to Climsoft development team for access to early releases.

📦Installation & Support

This is a preview release of Climsoft Web. It is being shared ahead of the official stable release in order to:

  • Showcase new features and progress.
  • Gather feedback from users and stakeholders.
  • Test functionality and identify potential issues in real-world use.

Please note:

  • This release is not final and may contain bugs, incomplete functionality, or changes in behavior.
  • Features and workflows may change before the stable release.
  • If you plan to use this release in a production environment, please inform the Climsoft development team so we can help ensure it does not disrupt your existing Climsoft version 4 system.

Your feedback is valuable and will help us refine the system before the official stable release. Please contact 📧 dev@climsoft.org for any further queries.
