Boston_Parking_Violations_Demo

In order for the City of Boston to evaluate parking trends to inform future resource deployment and inform policy decisions regarding parking enforcement, our team of students developed a digital product to analyze parking summonses that were issued across the City of Boston in 2024. The purpose of this evaluation is to determine whether violators are deliberately ignoring signage at hotspot locations or whether city signage is misunderstood by violators. During the two-week January term course - ‘Data and Programming for Policymakers’ at the Harvard Kennedy School, our team used GitHub Pages to create a website that showcases our findings and links to an interactive dashboard where users can explore parking violation hotspots by violation type and vehicleID in the City of Boston. Below are links to the specific components of the project, including the initial dataset provided by the City of Boston and all code utilized for the website and dashboard.
