Protected apps

Q: The service is killed on my Huawei phone. How should I keep the service running all the time?

A: Some phones, the Huawei most notably, have introduced a new feature called protected apps; Applications which are not explicitly protected are killed when the screen is shut. On most other devices the call detection service is sticky and is kept alive by the system. However, if this is not happening on your phone and the service is regularly killed when the screen goes off, you have to manually un-protect the app by going to the battery manager and adding your app to the white list of special apps.
