If you want to join a new open source project, right from the start, this is your opportunity!

Prisma Call Blocker is a new call blocking app for Android. In its first version (1.1), now out on Google Play and on GitHub, you will find all the basic functionality that you would expect in similar apps, like management of number patterns, calendar rules, actions to be performed and filters.

There is much more to come and we can work together to make this utility the number one call blocking utility around. Here is a cursory and incomplete list of new functionality and improvements I would like for future versions:

  • Extend the set of actions available to react to an unwanted incoming call. Newer versions of the Android SDK have introduced more and more security restrictions on what a third party app can do, and the telephony services have been strongly affected. This utility needs a robust arsenal of actions for dropping calls, forwarding to an answering machine, playing a sound or else, that work across different versions and handsets.
  • Help translating the app to different locales.
  • Improve the user interface, moving towards a Material style and theme.
  • Help promoting this app around and support its user community.
  • Work on new ideas, like harvesting spam numbers from the users or inferring the spamminess of a number by relying on internet scraping or connecting to third party databases of spammy numbers.
  • Work on bugs and improvement as suggested by the user community.
  • Promote the open source and free software movement, by maintaining this site.
