Release notes for package `drupal/admin_toolbar`

Maintenance release of project's 3.x development branch with mostly code cleanup and refactoring, automated tests, Gitlab CI jobs validation and bug fixes.

Most of the work and updates in this release are focused on the two modules:

• Admin Toolbar Search: admin_toolbar_search
• Admin Toolbar Tools: admin_toolbar_tools

 

How to update? Requires running database updates (drush updatedb) which should flush the cache so the changes to CSS files and JS libraries could be properly reflected.

Maintenance tasks

Clean-up of the code base (fixing GitLab CI validation jobs), update of JS libraries (Vanilla and ESLINT), compatibility fixes with supported Core versions (build pipeline for D9), improved automated Tests coverage.

Removed modules dependencies

The Admin Toolbar Search and Admin Toolbar Tools modules no longer require the Admin Toolbar module which will therefore need to be specified explicitly when installing the modules.
In other words, a command drush in admin_toolbar_search will no longer install the admin_toolbar module at the same time, it should be specified explicitly: drush in admin_toolbar_search admin_toolbar.

Admin Toolbar Tools

Clean-up and refactoring of CSS code and removed unused icon images (#3550270).

Admin Toolbar Search

• The responsive version of the Admin Toolbar Search field was reverted to using the one provided by the Drupal core Toolbar module (#3558389).
• Refactoring of the CSS code and rendered HTML of the Search Toolbar item (#3551183).
• Refactoring of the JS code with Vanilla JS and ESLINT fixes (#3564229).

 
Any code refactoring was backed with automated tests, trying to improve the coverage, as much as possible, but they have their limits, in particular: there is currently nothing in place for visual regressions.
Therefore, if you experience any visual or display issues with any of the components of the module, we would greatly appreciate your feedback and testing report in module's issue queue.

This is a maintenance minor release of Drupal 10 and is ready for use on production sites. Maintenance minors are recommended for sites that prefer the minimum changes between releases. Learn more about the Drupal core release cycle.
