0 The Development Process

Week 5-6 (Research Phase):

• Research on what news channels delivers to consumers and what they lack. What type of news do people want to know?
• Individually came up with challenges (news dilemma) that we would like to address in this course

Week 6-7 (Idea Generation Phase):

• Brainstorming session to finalize the idea
• Finalize the project idea
• Presented the idea in workshop (oral pitch)
• Got feedback on the idea (from tutors and classmates)
• Research on different features that we would like to put in our solution and how it is different from existing solution
• Brainstorming session for finalizing features
  • Decided to provide different categories of local news (local events, food, transportation etc.)

Week 8

• Two of us came up with paper prototypes

• Finalized into one prototype (by combining both designs)

Prototype in Photoshop:

• Started front-end development
• First standup meeting, presented the idea and the paper prototype in front of the tutors
• Received tutor feedback

Week 9

• Based on the feedback from the tutors we narrowed down our idea. Instead of providing all categories of news, we are focusing only on night events that are happening nearby pubs/clubs

• Brainstorming session to refine the paper prototype based on new idea

Week 10

• Front-end coding on the new idea and added some features based on survey results
• Second standup meeting, presented new idea in front of the tutors, showed new paper prototype, showed implemented prototype

Week 11

• Continuation of front-end development

• Third standup meeting, presented the implemented prototype in front of the tutors
• Continuation of development

• Making of promotional video with script audio
