summary
in #274 i failed to set the icc profile after applying tone mapping changes. after doing some more testing, it seems that setting the icc profile to srgb is enough to prevent images from looking overly bright/blown out.
this PR throws out the custom tone mapping logic for something far simpler (and quicker).
