MinEnglish

"uat u spic is uat u spel."

Author: Dan Micsa, PhD | ORCID: 0009-0004-3989-6067

MinEnglish is a formal simplification and clarification of Modern English. Its aim is to remove the inconsistencies, redundancies, and irregularities that burden English — not to replace it with something foreign.

The result is a leaner, fully regular version of English: same vocabulary, same phonemes, same word order — but with predictable spelling, explicit quantities, and precise time operators.

AI Attribution

This specification was developed with extensive assistance from large language models. Claude Opus 4.6 Thinking (Anthropic), Gemini 3.1 Pro (Google DeepMind), and GPT-5.4 (OpenAI) contributed to the drafting, formalization, revision, and example generation documented herein. The intellectual framework, design decisions, and authorship remain those of the human author.

Key Features

  • Easy to Learn: MinEnglish abolishes the concept of "exceptions" entirely. There are no irregular verbs, no unpredictable spellings, and no confusing contextual plurals. Once you learn the basic mechanical axioms, you can confidently construct any sentence.
  • Easy to Type: Designed for maximum digital efficiency, the language relies on a strict lowercase axiom (capitalization is reserved securely for Proper Noun escapes). Combined with mathematical operators (^, &, |, <, >) and highly compressed spelling, MinEnglish drastically reduces keystrokes and finger travel on hardware and mobile keyboards.
  • Phonetic Spelling: Every letter has one sound, every sound one letter. (knightnait, enoughinuf)
  • Explicit Quantities: Plurals are explicitly numbered to prevent noisy channel errors. Singular is the default. (3cat instead of cats)
  • Regular Time: Tenses are simplified into algebraic operators (-1d, 1d, :5Y) instead of irregular verbs.
  • Symbolic Operators: Adopts familiar logical syntax (&, |, ^, >, <) to compress compound constructs.
  • Zero Exceptions: Irregular verbs, irregular plurals, and silent letters are completely abolished.

Performance

Across a 35-sentence corpus comparing American English against MinEnglish, the protocol achieves an average 28.2% byte-length density reduction by applying Information Theory principles to eliminate Claude Shannon redundancy.
