You can start developing in 2 ways:
- Clone the repository
- Reopen in container
- When the container build is finished:
bash init.sh
How to start with this Laravel Docker template:
- Clone the repository
- Create a
.envfile and make an symbolic link
cp ./laravel/.env.example ./laravel/.env
ln -s laravel/.env .env-
Inside the
.envfile give the following variables a valueAPP_NAMEDOCKER_IMAGE_NAMEDB_HOSTDB_DATABASEDB_USERNAMEDB_PASSWORDDB_ROOT_PASSWORD
-
Change the port numbers according to your situation
DB_PORTHOST_HTTP_PORTHOST_HTTPS_PORT
NOTE: if you are going to use your Laravel environment in combination with a domain name and SSL, change the
APP_ENVto production.
- Install the composer packages and generate a key
cd laravel && composer install && php artisan key:generate && cd ..- Create an symbolic link to for the storage folder
cd laracel && php artisan storage:link && cd ..When you have done the getting started part, it's time to start the docker containers.
docker compose up -d --buildAfter this only do a Laravel migration to the database and you are ready!
cd laravel && php artisan migrateWhen you create a symlink according to the laravel command (php artisan storage:link) it will create a static link and
cause problems in the docker container. It's best to run the following command to get the same result:
cd public && ln -s ../storage/app/public storageTo make a backup of the application, run the command below.
php artisan backup:runRun the migrations to the test sqlite database. You may have to create a database.sqlite file before running the migrations.
php artisan migrate:fresh --env=testingTest the application.
php artisan testWould you like to contribute to the development of this project? Then read the prepared contribution guidelines and go ahead!
