Note
Compatibility is the same for all builds (vanilla, EX, etc.).
- Don't load the patched bin file directly, use this cue file (right click the link->save in the same folder with the other bin files).
- Some Yabause builds have issues loading cue files, switch to a Mednafen-based emulator like Retroarch or BizHawk.
Maybe you missed some required step. Check out a game guide or video playthrough.
This one is the most complete i know for the 1st scenario.
Various possible reasons:
-
Mednafen saves by default have an hash of the CD data track in their filename (e.g.
Princess Crown (Japan) (1M) (English).6f4c17d6ed5d80bec7f55dcb742520be.bkr). You may need to rename the old save to match the new hash after a patch update. - Loading an old savestate can also be a reason, since the default behaviour of most emulators is to restore the old save data along with the state, to avoid inconsistencies. In Retroarch this is controlled via this setting.
Tip
- Always do a manual backup of your latest save after each gaming session in a separate location (e.g. USB pendrive, cloud storage, etc.).
- Do not backup the save while the emulator is running.
- Use the last modification date to identify the correct save file to backup.
- For some emulators like SSF and Yabause you may need to use this tool to export the actual save.
-
make sure you are running the latest version (check on the title screen).
-
if using an emulator, try restarting and proceed without using any savestate.
-
if using cheats, try disabling all of them and restart the emulator.
-
if everything fails, use the original Japanese version to pass that point, then save at the nearest Inn, and switch back to the English version.
Please report game-breaking bugs (like soft-locks) while providing a savegame and instructions to reproduce. Make sure the bug wasn't reported already and you are using the latest release.
Obvious script errors/typos can also be fixed easily when reported.
Ask some of your friends with these skills to take a look at the open issues and reach out if they can help.
Playtesting and reporting bugs can also be useful.
Current script is based on the old 2014 SamIAm translation draft. Some missing lines were contributed by MiYakuGaming. More changes were made by eadmaster and Mentill for the sake of consistency and readability.
Tip
you can view the current translated script here. You can also use the Github builtin search engine to look for specific words or lines. e.g. "Larva"
Sure, you can fork the repository and start working on it already, but keep in mind:
- Derivative works must be shared under the same license (share-alike), and follow its terms (give credits and provide the source code with all the changes).
- I can provide some help kickstarting the project, but you are supposed to work independently after that.
- Support for Latin letters with diacritics is currently missing in the font and the
eventpatcher.
Tip
- Build instructions are here
- As alternative, you can try this overlay script for emulators.
use CDMage 1.02.1 (beta):
- all tracks merged into a single bin
- Iso->Bin: convert only the 1st track via the "Extract Tracks..." menu. Then rename the
.taooutput file to.bin. - Bin->Iso: you can also use a tool like this.
Not planned, feel free to fork the project and start working on it if you want.
Also check my initial investigation here.
Not top priority, see the related issue.
Currently supported in the v1.1 release, requires the Satakore version as the base image.
