The
GET _migration/reindex/<data_stream>/_statusAPI was mistakenly returning the document counts for all shards, rather than the counts for primary shards, which makes more sense in this case. When reindexing an index within a data stream, the user does not care how many documents there are including replicas -- the relevant information is how many documents there are in primaries.
