Modifies updateService related to functions deployment

Summary of Changes

Hello @brittanycho, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request refines the updateService functionality related to functions deployment by switching the underlying API call from POST to PATCH, which is more appropriate for partial updates. Additionally, it enhances the trigger type detection logic to ensure that services without an explicit trigger annotation default to an HTTPS trigger, improving robustness and compatibility for function deployments.

Highlights

  • API Call Method Change: The updateService function in src/gcp/runv2.ts was updated to use an HTTP PATCH request instead of a POST request for updating services. This aligns with standard RESTful practices for partial updates.
  • Function Trigger Type Logic: The logic for determining the trigger type (HTTPS vs. Event) for deployed functions was modified. It now defaults to an HTTPS trigger if the TRIGGER_TYPE_ANNOTATION is not present on the service, ensuring broader compatibility.
  • Test Case Alignment: A test case in src/gcp/runv2.spec.ts was adjusted to reflect the change in trigger type handling, specifically using httpsTrigger in the test service definition.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Code Review

This pull request correctly changes the updateService function to use the PATCH method, which is more semantically appropriate for updates. It also includes a bug fix in endpointFromService to correctly default to an httpsTrigger when trigger annotations are missing. The changes are logical and improve correctness. I have one minor suggestion to enhance code readability.

This condition is a bit repetitive. To improve readability and maintainability, consider extracting service.annotations?.[TRIGGER_TYPE_ANNOTATION] into a variable before this object literal.

For example:

const triggerType = service.annotations?.[TRIGGER_TYPE_ANNOTATION];
// ...
...(!triggerType || triggerType === "HTTP_TRIGGER"
  ? { httpsTrigger: {} }
  : { /* ... */ })
