Exhibit Tasks
We are going to GDC again this year (March 19-23 2018), unveil the Habitat Permanent Public Exhibit for The MADE.
We need to get some things done in order to make Habitat an always-on, always interesting historical exhibit.
Public Exhibit Release (GDC 2018) Milestone page
Team Station: The Physical Exhibit (station details - manufacture, hardware, configuration, etc.)
Team Stability: A stable public NeoHabitat server - available to the public 24x7.
Team Experience: Make the world a rich and self-guided place, even if only one human is online at any time. This includes reworking any regions and server code required to optimize for a new user experience, as well as the creation of bots to suggest what the world was like back in the day...
It has been determined that Jeremy will lead this team.
There is going to be work for 2 displays going on. One for GDC (March 19 - 23), and another for the permanent exhibit at The MADE. Some work will likely overlap between the two. Work for GDC should take priority considering there's a hard deadline.
Here is a link to the current tasks available. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cdI2uQrdSlaMTLr8Q0mmD7-swptUI3lc4zHT1i_RCnA/edit?usp=sharing
For editing rights, please contact Jeremy on SLACK. All project suggestions and discussions are also welcome.
Randy (Server code) and Steve (Ops) will lead this team.
-
Critical repair required: Region Capacity is not working properly (Randy is hoping for some client-side help from Gary on this.)
-
Missing infrastructure required: All verb entry points must now have arguments sanity- (and security-)checked. The bots will be coming in and must be assumed to be misbehaving (even if not maliciously). Jason - are you up to this task?
Randy proposes Stu to lead this team, with Steve heading up the Robot subproject.
We need a complete new-user experience proposal broken down to tasks.
EDIT (02/03/2018): Here is a Google doc created to try and plan our the New User Experience for the Exhibit, you can view it here but if you'd like access to edit it please contact Stu on SLACK: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UzUEjYOYvx4pIu3W-iwytytTkF3WOxzetMgmogEzV9I/edit?usp=sharing
If you have any ideas on what could create a great experience for a newbie, we'd love to hear it!
It'd help if real user logins were alerts available on a SLACK channel so that any folks wanting to hang out and get alerted when a new person arrives could join them.
We need a backgrounder for the bot framework, and any server changes required to support the bots efficiently.
Suggested bot types are at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dfYZv-8iBiKm_qexuOKQ-h9LHvMsLK3DNbJYFwMinuU/edit and should be moved into the git project wiki.
