🙋I'm Francisco Zambrano 😃, a researcher based in Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱. My work focuses on environmental sciences 🌎, particularly the intersection of climate variability ☀️ ☁️, drought monitoring, agriculture 🌾, and water resource management 💦. I specialize in using remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and climate data to understand how environmental changes impact ecosystems and agriculture 🌳 🌲.
💡 I hold a doctorate in agricultural engineer and have published on topics such as vegetation dynamics, long-term drought assessments, and land use change. My research has been cited widely and contributes to both academic knowledge and practical decision-making in climate resilience and sustainable land management.
Beyond academia, I’m passionate about open science and reproducible research.
Here, I share tools and code—mostly 💻 in R—that support the analysis 📉 and visualization of geospatial and climate data. Some of my contributions include interactive apps for visualizing drought data in Chile, R packages for working with spatiotemporal arrays, and scripts for satellite image processing and animation. I enjoy building tools that make complex environmental data more accessible and actionable.
Whether through scientific publications 📄, collaborative projects, or open-source development, I aim to bridge the gap between data, science, and policy to support more informed environmental decisions.
