🛠 Prerequisites

  • OS: Linux (Ubuntu 20.04/22.04 LTS recommended) or macOS (Apple Silicon/Intel)
  • Hardware: 100GB+ free disk space, 16GB+ RAM, 8+ CPU cores
  • Software:
    • OpenJDK 17
    • Python 3.8+
    • git, repo, build-essential, libncurses5, flex, bison
    • Android SDK & Platform Tools
  • Knowledge: Basic familiarity with AOSP build system (lunch, make, repo)

🚀 Installation & Setup

# 1. Clone this repository
git clone https://github.com/gamm3r96/hack-android-framework.git
cd hack-android-framework

# 2. Run the dependency installer
chmod +x setup.sh && ./setup.sh

# 3. Initialize & sync AOSP source (adjust branch as needed)
repo init -u https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest -b android-14.0.0_r1
repo sync -c -j$(nproc --all)

# 4. Configure & build
source build/envsetup.sh
lunch aosp_x86_64-userdebug
m -j$(nproc --all)

📖 Usage

Task Command / Path
Apply framework patch ./tools/apply-patch.sh <patch.diff>
Modify SystemUI frameworks/base/packages/SystemUI/
Test on emulator emulator -avd <your-avd> -show-kernel
Flash to device fastboot flashall -w
Debug framework services `adb logcat
View architecture docs docs/

💡 Tip: Always work in a clean AOSP tree or use git worktree to isolate framework experiments.
