Details

  • It imports and reuses calculateTransformationsForLine and calculateTransformedLine from text-buffer.ts.
  • It adds a new test case in UserMessage.test.tsx to verify this transformation.
  • It updates the snapshot file.

How to Validate

  1. Paste an image into Gemini CLI(any platform)
  2. Ask anything about the image

Summary of Changes

Hello @devr0306, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces a significant improvement to how user messages are displayed, particularly when they include references to pasted images. By implementing a text transformation mechanism, lengthy image file paths are now converted into a compact, readable format directly within the user interface. This streamlines the visual presentation of messages, making the chat experience cleaner and more efficient for users.

Highlights

  • Image Path Transformation: User messages containing image file paths (e.g., @/path/to/my-image.png) are now automatically transformed to a concise display format, specifically [Image <filename>].
  • Readability Improvement: This change enhances the readability of user messages by replacing potentially long file paths with a shorter, more user-friendly representation within the UI.
  • New Text Transformation Logic: Integration of calculateTransformationsForLine and calculateTransformedLine utilities ensures that text content is processed to identify and collapse image paths before rendering.
  • Test Coverage: A new test case and corresponding snapshot have been added to UserMessage.test.tsx to verify the correct transformation and display of image paths.

Code Review

This pull request updates the UserMessage component to display a shortened, more readable format for image paths. The changes are implemented cleanly using a useMemo hook and leverage existing text transformation utilities. A new test case is included to verify the functionality. The implementation appears correct and robust, and I have not identified any issues.
