Everything you need to know about installing gretl on your system.

Linux

Debian and Ubuntu

For Debian-based systems you can easily install gretl via the following bash command:

sudo apt install gretl

Compile on your own

User github.com/atecon shares a github-repository showing how to compile gretl on your own: https://github.com/atecon/install_gretl_ubuntu

Fedora

Windows

You can download Gretl from this page: Gretl for Microsoft Windows

If you have no specific needs, simply download the latest release of self installer according to the processor you have. (Note: if you don't know what type of processor you have, go to Settings → System → About and under System type you can see whether your processor is 32-bit or 64-bit.)

After downloading the installation file, run it.

macOS

You can download Gretl from this page: Gretl for for macOS

If you're running OS X 10.6, 10.7 or 10.8 ("Snow Leopard", "Lion" or "Mountain Lion") we suggest trying the 2021a release of gretl. If you're running OS X 10.5 or earlier please see our gretl for legacy Macs page.
