Set TOML Version

GitHub Action to update version fields in pyproject.toml and Cargo.toml files.

Requirements

Python 3.8+ must be available on the runner. GitHub-hosted runners include Python 3 by default. Self-hosted runners must have python3 in PATH or use actions/setup-python before this action.

How it works

• Parses TOML files using vendored tomlkit 0.14.0 (format-preserving, zero runtime dependencies)
• Updates package.version in Cargo.toml
• Updates project.version in pyproject.toml
• Validates versions via regex (strips v/=/whitespace prefixes, supports prerelease and build metadata)
• Optional verify mode rejects git changes outside the declared file list
