Getting started ⭐

  1. Open Swim Check on your mobile device
  2. Select Age Group from the dropdown.
  3. Select Gender (Girls/Boys)
  4. Select Course Type:
    • SCY = Short Course Yards (most common)
    • SCM = Short Course Meters
    • LCM = Long Course Meters (Olympic-size pools)

Entering times ⏱️

Standard entry

Tap any time field and enter your swimmer's time:

  • For times over 1 minute: 1:28.19 (minutes:seconds.hundredths)
  • For times under 1 minute: 28.45 (seconds.hundredths)

The time will automatically save when you move to another field.

Fast entry mode (Advanced) ⚙️

Enable Fast entry mode (numbers only) for quicker time entry on mobile devices:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  2. Turn on the "Fast entry mode" toggle.
  3. Your phone will now show a numeric keypad when entering times.

With fast entry mode enabled, just type the digits and the app will format them automatically right-to-left:

  • Type 1234 → becomes 12.34 seconds
  • Type 12345 → becomes 1:23.45
  • Type 123456 → becomes 12:34.56

Sharing times

Use your browser's built-in URL sharing feature to send via text or email. Alternatively you may copy the entire URL and paste it in a message.

Understanding results 📉

After entering a time, the row will highlight based on the qualification level:

  • Green border = Met A standard (fastest)
  • Blue border = Met B+ standard
  • Yellow border = Met B standard
  • Gray background = Time entered but no standard met
  • Red background = Invalid data entered (will not be saved)

The specific standard cell that was met will also be highlighted in the corresponding color.

Tips 💡

  • Rotate your phone to landscape view for better visibility of the standards grid.
  • All times are automatically saved to your device -- no need to worry about losing data.
  • Times stay saved even if you close the app or change age groups.
  • Use Clear all times button to start fresh for a new meet or swimmer -- this cannot be undone.
  • Recover old data by first clearing times and then re-loading with the old URL.
  • Share your URL with family members to keep everyone in sync with the latest times.

Troubleshooting 🔍

Red border on time field

This means you've entered invalid characters. Only numbers, colons (:), and periods (.) are allowed.

Times marked with ⚠️

These indicate known issues in the source data from Oregon Swimming. See the README for details.

Can't type colon or period in fast entry mode

Fast entry mode uses a numeric-only keyboard. If you prefer typing colons and periods, turn off fast entry mode at the bottom of the page.
