Quick Start

Using Docker (Recommended)

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/yourusername/bridgeping.git
cd bridgeping

# Run with Docker Compose
docker-compose up --build

# Visit http://localhost:8000

Local Development

# Install dependencies
pip install -r requirements.txt

# Initialize the database
python bin/init-db.py

# Run the application
python webapp/main.py

# Visit http://localhost:8000

Architecture

BridgePing uses:

• FastAPI - Modern Python web framework
• SQLite - Lightweight database for bridge and user data
• Bootstrap 5 - Responsive UI design
• Docker - Containerized deployment

Data is synchronized from:

• NDW (Nationale Databank Wegverkeersgegevens) - Real-time bridge opening events
• OpenStreetMap - Bridge locations and metadata

Deployment

The application is designed to run on Fly.io:
