Only descriptions are added to some functions & commentaries to some lines.
For
renderState(),computeColor()- naming of internally used variables is changed to follow common conventions (like "index" instead of "id)".@akloeckner: please do not merge it, it is better to merge it after merging #1350, #1233 to fix possible conflicts.
