3. Usage
EDR will warn you when dangerous cmdrs make themselves known to the player journal: comms, interdiction, etc. You can also scan contacts with your ship's regular scanner to report them to EDR for the benefit of other EDR users and to get warnings / profiles for outlaws, or powerplay enemies.
Alternatively, you can trigger an EDR + Inara cmdr profile lookup by:
- Sending an
o7to the cmdr you are wondering about. - Sending a
!who cmdrnameon chat (local, wing, etc.)
EDR will also show a situation report (aka sitrep) of your destination while jumping, if it had recent activity or a NOTAM. Information shown:
- NOTAM (e.g. Community Goal, PvP Hub, Known hot spot, etc.)
- List of recently sighted outlaws and cmdrs
- List of cmdrs who recently interdicted or killed other cmdrs
To learn more, you can also send !help via the in-game chat. Don't panic: type !clear to remove the help screen :)
On top of a static karma assigned to known outlaws, EDR also uses the scans and in-game event sent by other EDR users to compute a dynamic karma.
- Karma is a measure of a commander's alignment versus the law: outlaw / ambiguous / lawful, e.g. Lawful+++
- A commander will be classified as outlaw if they are scanned with a significant bounty. A long streak of clean scans will classify a commander as lawful.
- The
≈symbol in front of outlaw/ambiguous/lawful label indicates a dynamic karma. - Consider this as hint and use your best judgement. Also, the scans don't dissociate PvP bounties vs. powerplay bounties, vs. PvE bounties. Don't get scanned with a PvE bounty ;)
