Tired of dealing with long, complicated hexadecimal addresses? A .stark name lets you use a simple, memorable name instead. This guide will walk you through the steps to register your own Starknet ID, making your transactions smoother and building a single, recognizable identity across the entire Starknet ecosystem.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following ready:
- A compatible wallet (Braavos or ArgentX)
- ETH available for bridging over to Starknet
- Access to a bridging service (like Orbiter Finance or the official Starknet Bridge)

## Step 1: Bridge ETH to Starknet

1. Go to your preferred bridging service (Orbiter Finance or the Starknet Bridge).
2. Connect your Ethereum wallet.
3. Enter the amount of ETH you want to bridge.
4. Confirm the transfer and wait for it to process.
5. Check that the ETH has appeared in your Starknet wallet.

## Step 2: Connect Your Starknet Wallet

1. Go to starknet.id.
2. Click "Connect Wallet."
3. Choose either Braavos or ArgentX from the list.
4. Approve the connection request in your wallet's pop-up.
5. Check that your address is now displayed correctly on the site.

## Step 3: Register Your .stark Name

1. Type your desired name into the search bar.
2. Check its availability (a green checkmark means it's good to go).
3. Select how long you want to register it for (from 1 to 10 years).
4. Review the total cost, including gas fees.
5. Click "Register" and confirm the action in your wallet.
6. Wait for the confirmation on the blockchain.

## Step 4: Set Up Your Identity

1. Go to your Starknet ID dashboard.
2. Find the "Identity Verification" section.
3. Link any other wallet addresses you use, if you'd like.
4. Connect your social media accounts to further build your on-chain profile.
5. Save your changes.

## Step 5: Check Your Setup

Test your new setup:
1. Send a small test payment using your .stark name.
2. Make sure the funds are sent to the correct wallet address.
3. Check that your linked social accounts are displayed correctly on your profile.
4. Confirm that your new Starknet ID appears in your wallet's interface.

## Maintenance Checklist

- Keep an eye on your balance to ensure you have enough for fees.
- Check for wallet software updates every month.
- Renew your registration before it expires to avoid losing your name.
- Update your linked accounts if you change your login details.

## Next Steps

Your Starknet ID is now active and ready to go! Use your new .stark name for all your on-chain activity to avoid mistakes with long addresses and to build a consistent digital identity.
