I don't know why, but in my case this fix the 480p quality bug on issue #17
I hope this help for a better fix.

On a fresh install on Omega/XBian 32bits/Raspberry 3, I also had Issue #17. This fix also worked for me. Thanks for the plugin, and thanks for the fix !

Tested successfully on LibreELEC (official): 12.0.2 (RPi5.aarch64) using version 2.0.4+matrix.1 with the patch.

I also had the bug on my device. It looks like it comes from Inputstream Adaptative.
If you go to Addons > Inputstream Adaptative > Settings > General
Disable "Auto determine initial bandwith", it seems to solve the issue.
It makes a lot of sense because if i launched several time the video i ended up with a best quality.

If you reproduce the fix, we could just set in the code:
listitem.setProperty("adaptivestream.bandwidth.init.auto", "false")

Just tested your trick and it seem to fix the issue, this pr is now obsolete...
I'm happy to discover new global config but i'm curious about this os param.
