A rudimentary database engine employing a simplified file-per-table structure reminiscent of SQLite, with efficient B+1 and B-tree indexing for data storage and retrieval.

Steps to compile and run the program

  • Extract Davisbase.zip and change directory to the folder

  • Run the following code:

    javac DavisBase.java
    java DavisBase

Supported Commands:

All commands below are case insensitive.

  1. SHOW TABLES; Display the names of all tables.

  2. CREATE TABLE <table_name> (<column_name> <data_type> <not_null> ); Creates a table with the given columns.

  3. CREATE INDEX ON <table_name> (<column_name>); Creates an index on a column in the table.

  4. DROP TABLE <table_name>; Remove table data (records) and its metadata.

  5. UPDATE TABLE <table_name> SET <column_name> = [WHERE ]; Modify records data whose optional is <column_name> = .

  6. INSERT INTO <table_name> (<column_list>) VALUES (<values_list>); Inserts a new record into the table with the given values for the given columns.

  7. DELETE FROM TABLE <table_name> [WHERE ]; Delete one or more table records whose optional is <column_name> = .

  8. SELECT <column_list> FROM <table_name> [WHERE ]; Display table records whose optional is <column_name> = .

  9. VERSION; Display the program version.

  10. HELP; Display this help information.

  11. EXIT; Exit the program.
