  • Acculturation (ACQ_G 2011-2012) Updated & Occupation Questionnaire (OCQ_F 2009-2010) Industry and occupation group code variables have been added for the participant’s current and longest held jobs.

2011-12 Laboratory files that need to be pulled from website

2014/08/12

The following laboratory files have been withdrawn from public release because an error was discovered in the creation of sampling weights. New files with corrected weights will be released as soon as feasible. Any analyses created using these files should not be published.

Physical Activity Monitor Data

Some data users have reported difficulty accessing 2003-2004 and 2005-2006 NHANES Accelerometer data. The links to this data on the NHANES webpage will be corrected. However, the dataset is still available directly from the NCHS FTP site. To access the data, go to the appropriate link and follow your browser's instructions.

2003-2004 data: http://ftp.cdc.gov/pub/health_statistics/NCHS/nhanes/2003-2004/paxraw_c.exe 2005-2006 data: http://ftp.cdc.gov/pub/health_statistics/NCHS/nhanes/2005-2006/paxraw_d.exe

The datasets are in self-extracting files so these instructions may vary with browser type, eg, you may be able to extract and save the data directly from FTP, or you may need to save the executable file and extract it locally. Please contact CDC-INFO (http://www.cdc.gov/contact/) if you have any difficulty accessing the data from the FTP site.

New questionnaires, laboratory assessments, and examination components for the 2017-18 NHANES

2014/05/05

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is accepting proposals for adding new content to the 2017-2018 survey.

The first step of this process is to submit a letter of intent (LOI). There is a separate LOI deadline for each of the three basic survey areas - the examination, laboratory assessments and questionnaires items. Each deadline is listed below:

Examination component deadline: September 30, 2014 Questionnaire content deadline: March 15, 2015 Laboratory content deadline: June 1, 2015

Use the earliest deadline if you are proposing additions to more than one area of the survey (such as proposing to add both questions and an exam). Please see the NHANES website for more details.

Update to the NHANES 2011-2012 Demographics File

2014/04/10

  • Demographics (DEMO_G 2011-2012) The Demographics file was updated to expand the target age group of participants from 0-2 years to 0-19 years for the reported age in months at examination (RIDEXAGM) variable.

Updated Variables

  • Total Testosterone (TST_G 2011-2012)The unit for variable LBXTST has been changed from nmol/L to ng/dL.
