This NIP proposal sketches out the concept of a quorum for centralizing decentralized organizations in a framework that is maximally flexible & resilient. It is a new organizational strategy that aims to answer the following questions:

  • How do we manage open source projects like Linux, Bitcoin & Nostr?
  • How do we cryptographically ensure checks & balances on powerful organizations?
  • How do we create an HOA or a Trust that doesn't depend on a legal jurisdiction?
  • How do we ensure Academic, Medical & Scientific Journals don't get captured?
  • How do we ensure that Media & Sports Networks like the BBC, Olympics, FIFA don't get captured?
  • How do we guarantee that a government continues to serve its people rather than enslaving them?
  • How do we build our own decentralized nation and issue our own passports?

This kind of "decentralized governance" solution is uniquely made possible by Nostr and maybe this kind of governance can help solve the centralization problem on Nostr.
