@janjust I have seen this PR caused mpirun --version output got directed to stderr instead of stdout. Do you have any insights how this can happen?

Nothing changed in the output code - are you saying you just saw this, or are you saying it changed? FWIW: the code has always output to stderr in the PRRTE v3 series

Actually, I take that back - there is a change in the current v5.0 branch head that switches to stderr from stdout. I'll put it back as there is no value in doing the switch.

Yes, I just saw this, it used to be in stdout but switched to stderr.
